PSC to Issue Decision Friday in Kentucky-American Water Treatment Plant and Pipeline Case (14331)
The Kentucky Public Service Commission’s (PSC) decision in case 2007-00134, the application of Kentucky-American Water Co. to construct a new water treatment plant on the Kentucky River in Owen County and to build a pipeline from the plant to connect to the company’s system in Fayette County, will be issued at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 25.

$728,270 Grant Awarded to Protect Clarks River Watershed (14298)
The Kentucky Division of Water has awarded a $728,270 grant to the Jackson Purchase Resource Conservation and Development Foundation for improving water quality and preventing nonpoint source pollution in the Upper East Fork of Clarks River in Calloway, Marshall and McCracken counties. The award includes a $436,970 grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and $291,300 in nonfederal matching funds.

Annual Jobless Rates Lower in 93 Kentucky Counties in 2007 compared to 2006 (14231)
Frankfort, Kentucky — Ninety-three Kentucky counties posted lower annual unemployment rates in 2007 than in 2006, while 21 counties were higher, and six counties were the same, according to the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training in the Kentucky Education Cabinet.

Steve Beshear has announced the launch of Kentucky New Energy Ventures, a state program that administers $5 million in public funds for investment in promising renewable and alternative energy companies in the commonwealth. The program, established legislatively under the name, "Kentucky Alternative Fuel and Renewable Energy Fund Program," was created by the state’s General Assembly under House Bill 1 during the 2007 Extraordinary Session.
